PaycheckCalculator.us is an independent, privacy-first paycheck calculator covering all 50 states with verified 2026 tax data.
Why we built this
Most paycheck calculators treat half the country as an afterthought: state rules approximated, local taxes ignored, edge cases like W-4 Step 2(c) or Pennsylvania’s Act 32 simply missing. We built the engine we wanted to use — one that models each state’s actual 2026 rules, computes locally in your browser, and shows its sources.
Our editorial standards
- Official sources only. Every rate and rule traces to IRS publications, SSA data, or state departments of revenue. No undocumented numbers.
- Versioned data. Tax data lives in versioned files; every page shows exactly which data versions produced your result.
- Honest estimates. We label results as educational estimates — never as tax advice — and we tell you what the engine cannot model.
- Privacy by architecture. Your salary never leaves your browser. No account, no email, no server-side computation.
How the engine works
The calculator is a data-driven runtime: one federal data file, one file per state, and a pure computation core. When tax rules change, the data changes — the math doesn’t. The full pipeline, edge cases, and update policy are documented in our methodology, and deep-dive studies live in research.
